How Do You Pronounce Matria?
The Story Behind Our Name
It’s a question I hear quite often, typically muttered sheepishly (as if you’re supported to know how to pronounce a made-up word!). “How do you pronounce... Maa…Mayy... your company?”
Before diving into phonetic spelling, let me take a moment to shed light on the story behind our name.
What Does Matria Mean?
The name Matria draws inspiration from the timeless archetype of the Matriarch. Across cultures, the matriarch reigns as the head of the family, holding court as the family’s spiritual and emotional center embodying strength, wisdom and love. She seamlessly blends the feminine and masculine and is as multi-faceted as she is grounded.
Yet, beyond the familial sphere, the concept transcends to encompass tribes, societies, and movements.
At Matria, we celebrate the profound strength and versatility inherent in women, inviting each of us to step into our innate power. It serves as an open invitation to forge a deep connection with oneself and navigate life's journey with resilience and abundance.
How to Pronounce Matria (Phonetic Breakdown)
Start by pronouncing “matriarch” (may-tree-ark). Replace the “ark” with an “ahh” and there you have it.
I find solace in the phonetic spelling of Matria. I picture the grounding “tree” rooted in Mother Earth connecting us to the physical realm, fused with a soft “ahhh” signifying the boundless potential accessible when we navigate the world with compassion and love. The preceding “may” echoing an invitation to join us on this journey.
